The Australian summer is fierce and in between the scorching sun and southerly busters there’s little time for grooming while living your best life down under. It’s long days and good times so ultimately you want to be looking good while spending as little time as possible trying to do so.

Adopting a messy and easy going hairstyle is a laid back approach that compliments the lifestyle and the season.

Super short hairstyles are also great for the summer months as they are cool and offer the easiest maintenance.

Tips

Achieve a zero maintenance summer hairstyle by opting for a skin fade buzz cut.

With this super high and tight hairstyle you won’t need to to style, comb or even dry your hair after swimming.

The only thing we’d recommend is the use of sunscreen on the exposed scalp to ensure that you can gradually tan this skin so it becomes uniform with that of the face and shoulders. This will ensure that you avoid a sun burn and with a regular haircut you’ve got one of the best crops for the season.

Tricks

The summer months bring humidity, rain and a lot of sweat too. All these things can adversely effect water based styling products whereas wax, oil or petroleum based styling products are water insoluble which means they won’t wash away under these conditions. In fact they will hold through thick and thin and will actually require a degreasing shampoo to remove. Ask your barber for further advise on the base components of the different styling products available here at the barbershop.
