HOW TO STOP SWEAT FROM RUINING YOUR STYLE THIS SUMMER

November 7, 2021

The Australian summer gets bloody hot, doesn’t matter if you’re in Parramatta or on the coast, it’s the same stinking hot summer and you’re going to sweat, probably sweat a lot. Let’s take a look at the best ways to beat the heat and stay stylish for summer.

With hopefully the worst of the government imposed lockdowns behind us for good, we have reopened for the ‘double-jabbed’ and it’s been business as not quite usual here at Westfield Parramatta. The post lockdown rush was a sight to behold and seemingly every man and his tribe came to the barbershop for a haircut.

The crew sliced and diced their way through all comers in that first week and the queue out the front became pretty lengthy on some of those days. With that said, we got through the lockdown, got through the reopening and now we’re eyeing off the summer months ahead. Which brings us to the topic of the day:

Some barbershop advise on how to stop the summer heat and sweat from ruining your hair style.

The Buzz Cut

One of the easiest ways to adapt to the searing summer heat is to go for a hairstyle that will not be tediously hard to keep set in place. Think high and tight, buzz cuts, high fades and anything suited to the military. This is a tactic that suits the season as you can jump in and out of the ocean to cool off and after one quick lick of the beach towel you’re on your way.

Wax & Clay

For those who prefer a styled up look and something that requires the use of products to hold in place. We suggest a look towards our range that have petroleum, wax and/or clays at their foundations. These products will offer continued hold through very excessive sweating and will not wash away like their water based counterparts. For those who like added texture, we recommend Uppercut’s Styling Powder, a choice that will wash out with a degreasing shampoo but otherwise hang tight and hold.

The Salty Dog

Longer locks are prone to frizz and can get unruly with the slightest sign of humidity. For those with long hair, a ‘sea salt spray’ or ‘styling spray’ can provide a natural textured look that is both casual and stylish. Another tip for long hair is to limit the use of shampoo, or more to the point, not to over use shampoo as this strips way important oils that protect from the dreaded frizz. A little argon oil will works wonders or the grooming hack of the day: a little beard oil rubbed through those long locks for supple and shiny hair as well as a healthy scalp underneath.
