Hairstyles For Teenage Boys

As much as many parents wish they could maintain control of their boys hairstyle choices, there comes a time when that control must be relinquished, like it or not. It is a day and age where there is so much influencing young boys choices around their image and it’s important to let them explore their own identity and make those decisions as part of the process of growing into men.

Let’s look at three hairstyles that are trending with teenage boys for the new season.

The Skin Fade

The skin fade is part of a hairstyle instead of being a complete hairstyle by itself. It is extremely popular with teenage boys as it tends to elevate a wide range of different hairstyles. The skin fade involves the shaving of a portion of the hair down to bare skin. The hair is then transitioned into longer lengths and this gradient is commonly known as a fade. If the gradient starts at longer lengths, like a number two guard, the gradient technique is referred to as a taper instead.

The Undercut

Breaking away from social norms is common practice for teenage boys and rolling with an undercut hairstyle is a good example of this. The hairstyle is a popular choice amongst the alternative crowd and is mostly seen within the heavy metal, surf and skate cultures. For an undercut hairstyle the back and sides are cut shorter than the top which creates the overhang or undercut.

The Mullet

Back in the mainstream and more popular than ever, the mullet and all of its modern variations is one of the trendiest hairstyles with teenage boys this season. In saying that, it’s not acceptable in all schools and might just get the lads into strife with the dean of students. The hairstyle needs no description surely, although we’ll break down that it is commonly worm short with a skin fade on the sides and a boxed up or blunt fringe at the front.
