PROUDLY SUPPORTING CENTRAL COAST KIDS IN NEED

February 6, 2021

We are very pleased to announce our new connection with not for profit volunteer organisation Central Coast Kids In Need (CCKIN). This is an amazing organisation that is focused on providing financial assistance to local families with sick children. We hope to increase public awareness within the community and help to raise much needed funds to support their work through a new donation point set up in the barbershop.

What Does CCKIN do?

Established 27 years ago, CCKIN is a small volunteer group of approximately 17 members. They have no paid employees and receive no government funding. They work to assist local families with accommodation costs so that they may stay with their sick children while undergoing specialised treatments in both Sydney and Newcastle hospitals. They also assist with high cost prescription items, specialised formula’s, quality of life equipment and travel expenses. Over the past 15 1/2 years they have raised in excess of $3.68 million and assisted more than 3125 families.

Meet Harry Wilcock

Whilst recently meeting with Lorraine and Rhonda from CCKIN at the barbershop, by chance, we were greeted with a family who’d previously received help form the organisation. It was very special to meet the family of Jason and Sarah Wilcock and to receive a first hand account of the help that the organisation provided to them during a time of great need.

After several weeks of complications, the Wilcock’s son Harry was born prematurely at 28 weeks in Sydney’s Prince Alfred Hospital. Harry spent 12 weeks in the special care nursery and CCKIN provided mum Sarah with accomodation so that she could remain close to Harry during this difficult time.

When recalling the experience Sarah outlined:

“Without the help that we received from CCKIN at that time, we would have been in a beyond difficult circumstance and we can never thank them enough for their support. We do try to give back and help CCKIN to help other families in need and we do that by providing to their annual Christmas fundraising drives”
